Install rebuild V8 in the Rover P6B
Assembling the new build V8 with the BW model 65 automatic transmission gave one new little problem. The bronze insert in the flywheel has a smaller hole diameter for the 5-speed gearbox than for the Auto gearbox.
To get that insert out: Find or make an axle matching the hole. Fille with oil and punch with a hammer. Refill and punch couple of time and the bronze insert will get out.
With the torque converter located in the gearbox you can turn and access the 4 bolts to mount it on the flywheel via the hole to the generator. In a small gap between the engine and gearbox you can give the 4 bolts the final torque.
With the unit assembled. Don’t mount the water pump before the engine is back in the car. It is then possible to squeeze I down in the engine bay, fix it and the cables.
Filling water, engine oil and in the gearbox dextron-2 oil.
The get oil pressure before starting the engine. Leave the distributor out and use a special made tool (see picture) to get access through the distributor hole to the oil pump.
Use a drill approx. 1500 rpm until you see oil pressure.
Mount the distributor and start the engine. Keep it at 2.000 rpm in 10 minutes to make sure the new CAM fit in and everything is lubricated. Adjust the ignition timing to 8 deg BTDC at 700 rpm.
